Anti-Peel Kits

Van Anti-Peel Kit Installation Newcastle

Door peeling is one of the most common methods of van theft in the UK. An anti-peel kit reinforces vulnerable points and makes door peeling virtually impossible. Mobile fitting across Newcastle and the North East.

What Is a Door Peeling Attack?

Door peeling is a brute-force attack where thieves physically bend or "peel" the top corner of a van's side or rear door downward, creating enough of a gap to reach inside or bypass the door's standard locks entirely. It exploits the fact that most commercial vans have relatively thin metal door skins that offer little resistance when levered with a crowbar.

The door is weakened at its top edge where it meets the door frame — this is where peel attacks concentrate force. Once peeled down even a few inches, the gap is often wide enough for a thief to insert tools, reach cargo, or manipulate the door's internal locking mechanism from the outside. In many cases, a peel attack leaves the factory lock intact and untouched — which means insurers may look for evidence of forced entry and be surprised to find none.

Anti-peel kits are specifically designed to prevent this attack vector. They reinforce the top edge of the door and/or the door frame with hardened steel plates and brackets that distribute force across a much wider area, making the door impossible to bend with handheld tools.

How Anti-Peel Kits Protect Your Van

Reinforced Top Door Edge

Steel plates fitted along the top interior edge of the door massively increase rigidity and resistance to bending. The door edge can no longer be curled downward with a pry bar.

Strengthened Strike Areas

Brackets fitted at the points where the door meets the body reinforce the weak spots that thieves target first. Force applied to one point is distributed across the entire reinforced area.

Layered Defence

Anti-peel kits are designed to complement your existing deadlocks, slamlocks, or hook locks. They prevent the door from being physically peeled open, while your deadlocks prevent it from being opened even if someone were to gain internal access.

Visual Deterrent

Many anti-peel kits include visible reinforcement plates that tell a thief — before they try — that this van is hardened against attack. Professional thieves case vans before striking; visible anti-peel protection often means they move on.

Anti-Peel Kit FAQs

How much does an anti-peel kit cost?+

Anti-peel kit supply and professional installation typically ranges from £120–£200 per door, depending on your van model and the kit required. We provide free, no-obligation quotes after assessing your van.

Which doors need anti-peel protection?+

The side loading door is the most commonly attacked door because it's often the largest panel on the van and the furthest from the driver's field of view. Rear barn doors are also vulnerable. We'll assess your van and recommend coverage for all doors at risk.

Can anti-peel kits be fitted alongside other locks?+

Yes — and in most cases they should be. Anti-peel kits work at the physical level, reinforcing the door itself, while deadlocks, hook locks, and slamlocks work at the locking mechanism level. Combining them gives you layered protection.

Are anti-peel kits visible from the outside?+

Most anti-peel kits are fitted internally and are not visible from the outside in normal use. The reinforcement is subtle — it's the thief who discovers it when they try to peel the door and find it doesn't move.

How long does installation take?+

Typically 45–90 minutes per door depending on the kit and door type. We fit on-site with our mobile service, minimising disruption to your working day.
